| Pioneers venturing across the Continental Divide to the Western Slope of the Rockies found a lush valley protected by sheltering walls of snowcapped mountains, fed by the confluence of two rivers. This rich valley served as the transportation hub of the Western Slope for farming, logging, ranching and related industries. Roads, trails, paths and railroads all led to the thriving hub of Delta. Arriving pioneers brought their heritage and hopes to the Western Rockies. Prosperous businesses made possible the rich and varied architectural styles embraced during Delta's early years. Many examples of these unique styles are being preserved today. The citizens of Delta joined with the City to form the Historic Preservation Board in 1997. Take the time to tour Delta properties which have received (L) local, (S) state, or (N) national histori designation. |
