Delta Public Library, 211 West 6th Street. Built in 1911. L/S
The Women's Club of Delta was organized in 1902 by seven women with a mission to "organize and establish a 'culture epoch' in the history of Delta." The Delta County Commissioners donated a site on courthouse square. With a donation from the Carnegie Foundation and
matching funds from Delta citizens, the library was built. This is one of the 35 Andrew Carnegie Libraries in Colorado and is the only example of the Neo-Classic Revival style of architecture in Delta. Neo-Classic Style is symmetrical with porticos using ionic or Corinthian columns and the use of other Corinthian elemnets including the podium, capital, dentils on the cornice & unenriched frieze - which on the library is utilized as an identification and date panel. Major interior refurbishing was done in 1961. In 1982, an historically compatible addition was added to the west of the original building.

decorative tiles encompasses this building below the eaves. Delta B.P.O.E. Lodge #1235 was formed in May 1911 with 151 charter members and at the time of construction of the building membership was exactly 500.

Meldrum House, 461 Palmer Street
Built in 1891. L According to the original stone over the front door, the Meldrum House was completed in 1891 and is believed to be the first home in Delta constructed of brick. Andrew Meldrum was a blacksmith who, along with three associates, loacted four excellent mining claims; the Yankee Girl, Guston, Robinson and Elnora. When the Yankee Girl Mine was sold, Meldrum received his share of $32,000 and bought a ranch at Delta, near the current location of Confluence Park. Andrew paid Hattie McGranahan
$650 for lots 11-16 of Block 21 of the original town. He met and married Polly, daughter of a rancher across the Gunnison, Joe Bond. The building is largely original, featuring original hardware, woodwork and other appointments. The Meldrum House currently is the home to KDTA radio station.
