| 1937. Myrtle was the telephone operator for Delta for many years. Her husband louis was a well known electrician, with his twin brother William. The brothers owned and operated the Seicrest Battery Shop from 1919-1956. They were also Fire Chiefs for 50 years and kept the towns fire truck in the back of their battery shop. | ||||||||
| Cleland Park 7th - 8th Streets & Howard Street. L In the early 1920's the Delta Women's Club determined their growing community needed a city park. | Mr. Clarence Riley as Caretaker. Dr. Cleland, Health Officer, saw the need for a supervised pool. He formed the Delta Swim Pool Stock Company raising $10,000. The Women's Club raised another $2,000 to help pay for the pool, which opened July 31, 1927. In 1930, the Delta Lions Club added housing facilities for a zoo, which closed in the late 60's. Over the years, public service groups have added tennis courts, plantings, horseshoe pits and in 1983 a pavilion. After 66 years of use, Cleand Pool closed it's doors in 1993 and was demolished. | ||||||||
